Meet Dr. Peplinski
Dr. Lee Peplinski (O.D., FAAO) is honored to be the newest doctor of the Focal Point Vision team, thus fulfilling a promise to his San Antonio-native wife that he would one day return her to Texas. And he got here as fast as he could!
“Dr. P.” joins FPV after nearly thirty years with a group medical/surgical practice in Louisville, Kentucky, where he focused on medical management of eye disorders, including glaucoma, dry-eyes, and pre- and post-operative care. He also developed the Residency and Externship programs at the practice. Dr. P. is a graduate of Ferris State University College of Optometry, having received highest honors. He then received his post-graduate training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Dr. P. was appointed to the Kentucky Board of Optometric Examiners from 2017-2021. He is a past-president of the Kentucky Optometric Association (KOA) from 2002-03, and was honored with the KOA’s 2015 Leadingham Service Award. He has also been recognized as the 1995 Young Optometrist of the Year and received the 1997 President’s Award. He was the optometric representative for the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee, and has been active at both the state and federal levels as a voice to help shape healthcare policy.
He has been published in national optometric journals and lectured both internationally as well as throughout the country at various state, regional and national meetings. Dr. P. has also designed and patented a device to aid in the dispensing of eye drops.
Since 2011, Dr. P. has led teams of students and doctors with the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists on eye care mission trips to Belize, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, and Peru. In 2018 he co-founded the Ret.Pray.Love.Foundation to “meet the physical and spiritual needs of those around the world through service and education.”
Dr. P. is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is adjunct faculty at several Schools and Colleges of Optometry.
When he is not working, Dr. P. enjoys traveling, scuba diving, culinary and cultural arts, and spending time with his wife and two adult children (and favorite son-in-law). He is an avid cyclist and prefers this method of exploring his new home state.
