Dr. James Lehmann: We’re going to talk a little bit about the risks and the benefits of cataract surgery. Just like everything in life, cataract surgery has some small risk associated with it. The most common problems would be infection, bleeding and the need for more surgery. Fortunately, the risks are very small. The benefits of cataract surgery are great. They normally include improved vision, improved color perception, and less dependence on glasses. The best news about cataract surgery is you only have to have it one time per eye in your life. A cataract doesn’t come back.
