FAQs

How Does LASIK Work?

First, an extremely precise laser, Intralase, creates a thin, protective flap that will protect the treatment area. Then, a computer controlled beam of laser light is used to reshape the underlying cornea. This laser beam is directed by a qualified surgeon with more than fifteen years of experience in refractive surgery. Finally, the protective flap is placed back down after the laser treatment.

How Do I Know It's Safe?

Focal Point Vision Correction surgeons have performed thousands of successful operations. They are specially trained in corneal surgery.

What Should I Look For In A LASIK Surgeon?

We encourage you to check out other practices. Find out if their surgeons are certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and are Board certified as Fellows of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Ask if they are American Fellowship Trained Corneal Surgeons.

Ask how many successful procedures they do on a monthly basis.

Ask how long they have been doing keratorefractive surgery.

Ask if they are trained in the full range of refractive procedures so that all options are available to you.

Ask if they are working for a corporate entity where accountable to stockholders for pushing high volumes of patients through.

Ask if they offer the latest Pentacam, AllegrettoWave Laser, Visx S4 Laser, Intralase, Visante Ultrasound, and ConfoScan4 in one practice.

How Experienced Are The Surgeons At Focal Point Vision Correction?

The surgeons at Focal Point Vision have decades of experience with refractive eye surgery.  We offer virtually every available technology to offer Lasik or which ever technology is safest and most effective for each individual.

How Do I Know If LASIK Is For Me?

We offer an initial free evaluation to determine if you would benefit from this procedure or other Keratorefractive procedures.

Will I Have 20/20 Vision After A LASIK Procedure?

Improved vision without dependence on glasses or contact lenses is the goal of refractive surgery procedures. There is no guarantee that you'll be totally free of glasses. Most patients see well enough after the procedure that they can pass a driver's test without corrective lenses.

Does LASIK Hurt?

Patients will experience a mild discomfort or a pressure during the procedure. Prior to the operation, eye drops are used to numb the cornea. Over the counter pain medications such as aspirin or Tylenol® are recommended after the procedure.

What if I am not a Lasik candidate?

Focal Point Vision offers PRK, implantable contact lenses, refractive lens exchange, and Intacts.
